About the magazine and its author
I’m Barbara Hardy and I work as a freelance author in Oberhausen, Germany. If you would like to know more about me, please visit my main website at https://www.barbara-hardy.com/en/.
In this magazine you will find articles on the subject of artificial intelligence. This topic interests me for many reasons:
Artificial intelligence (AI), on the other hand, is an emerging field that raises many questions. For example, there are fears that AI-based systems will be able to perform certain tasks better, more efficiently, and therefore more cheaply, and that certain activities will no longer be performed by humans in the future, leading to job losses. On the other hand, there is hope that, similar to previous technology-driven transformations, new fields of activity, new forms of collaboration, and thus a new quality of work will emerge.
We generally associate the term AI with specific technologies. In fact, AI is more of a computer science concept. More specifically, it is the information technology project that aims to enable machines to use intelligence and learn as they perform tasks. It is not exactly clear what is meant by intelligence in this context.
The impact of language models such as ChatGPT on work and productivity has been relatively well studied. This form of AI is already relatively well developed and can potentially be used for many tasks.
I do not only write my articles in German, but also translate them into English. You can see this in the abbreviations DE and EN, which stand for the change between the languages.
I try not to write in a way that is hurtful, polarizing, or polemical. However, I do not claim that my writing is neutral and impartial. I am sure that in one way or another my attitude is expressed in the texts. A certain bias or social and political stance may come through in my writing – I can’t help it.
I hope you enjoy reading
and look forward to your comments and remarks on my texts.
